Aid workers are among the most vulnerable employees of any organisation anywhere.

There are many factors that elevate the specific risks they face, but one of the most significant is gender – with predominantly female aid workers routinely experiencing sexual harassment, and occasionally even serious sexual assaults.

Managing these risks in the already complicated and dynamic environment of humanitarian assistance can be difficult but, at the most basic level, the approach should comprise of three core elements:
